Here's another one from Danny. This is from a while ago, but I haven't been on here in a while... :-)
Hey mom, I think i am going to be using this email from now on becuase the unr address takes forever here, and this doesnt. So, I have yet to read your letter so far, and i have been here for over an hour, but i will just let you know how the week went and then when I can get the other letter I will respond to it. I talked with sis. Wire today, and she said that you were really excited to hear from here, so thats cool. She will be sending you some pictures. Still no package, but i should be getting it this next zone conference, in two weeks. I cant. wait. I bought a few milky ways a couple days ago, and they were delicious and over a dollar. The mission is going great. Our area is sooooo coooool. I am in total bush and so i have been able to see some monkeys, and get really fresh fruit. I have a mango almost every day, and then I got some pineapple, and watermelon, and other good foods. I dont know, I think I may actually end up coming back a little bigger than when I left, which would be really cool. I cant believe I have been here for almost two months, but I still have a long way to go. We have a couple of baptisms lined up for the end of the month, which should be pretty cool. On saturday we went over to a members house in our district, and we got to play with a little chimpanzee. We were in a small room, and we wrestled, and it would swing on stuff, and bite our feet. It was one of the funniest things I have ever experienced. I sent you another letter in the mail, so hopefully it will make it to the house. Speaking of houses, I have only seen like four houses that would even be close to meeting descent back home. And they are really nice here, but in America they would be beggar homes. It is a really big eye opener seeing how some of the people here survive on almost nothing, yet are still happy. A lot of the people I talk to really want to come to America. So, what all have you guys been up to? It doesnt look like I will be reading the emails you sent me any time soon, the internet here is still 100 mbps, which is not very good. Tell everybody that this is my new email, and to resend anything to this one becuase it really isnt very fun waiting for over an hour and still not having a page loaded. So, if you wanted to resend your last letter along with your new one than that would be really nice. I have had some pretty crappy food lately too. I had this stuff called bitter bowl (or something like that), which doesnt even sound appealing, but i had some at a members house with some rice, and it tasted really bad. It was no good. But i had some food at our branch presidents house and it was really good, but really really really spicy. They love peppers here, litterally. It is in every food. I bought some powdered milk the other day, and i mix it in the morning for rice cereal, which actually tastes pretty good, i got some brown sugar too. But i tried it with some fruit loops and it tasted real bad. All the food here is cheap though, if you get african food, it doesnt cost more than 2.00 usd for a filling meal and a drink. But if you get american food, its crazy expensive. I bought a small box of pop tarts for over 5.00 usd. no good. I eat pb and j sandwiches all the time too, and eggs. We buy most of our food in a market, which isnt too great. Its cheap but there are flies and other things around that just make it smell like it would give you the trotts. Speaking of which, i have yet to have diahrreah, which is really astounding becuase i have had some stuff that looks like it would put you in bed for weeks. Well, now that i wrote you a book, i got to write bekah. Tell Terry to email me becuase i forgot his address. Okay, loves. Love,Elder Gaxiola

Here's another. If you don't want to e-mail Danny but want us to ask him something or say hello, just ask me to ask him!!!!
Dear Family and Friends, Things are great. I guess the rainy season started last month, buttypically for the month of june its supposed to rain non-stop, but its onlythe second day. I cant really think of anything specific, just make surethat you send it to the p.o. box address if you didnt do that. I will bemeeting with President Squires tomorrow, so i should get it then, if it camein. You can send the crocs, but i dont know how much i will be wearingthem, i will probably wear them on pdays. That's funny that Bekah got Cody's name on hers. How did she graduateearly? That's neat that you guys are talking about me. Let everybody knowi say hi. I haven't gotten homesick yet, but i have been told by the otheramericans that it will happen soon. My area is really cool. The ZoneLeader is really cool, our district leader is a little weird, as with mycompanion, but this isnt supposed to be easy. I have been washing all myclothes by hand which is really fun. It took some time, but pretty soon iwill be better than an actual washer. The work is going great. Everybody is willing to talk, we haven't beenturned down by anybody. We have about 8 investigators that we are going tobe baptizing this month, so that should be a great experience. The branchhas over 300 member but this week only 107 came, but that was the most ithas been in a long time. A lot of the work is reactivation. Its toughbecause people come and go as they please, or die, and nobody writes it inthe records, so we have to update a lot of the records. The food here is really weird. Look up fufu and garry. Its not too bad,but its not nearly as good as the food we have back home. We bought asmoked cat fish though, and it is way good. It should last us about amonth, and it only cost about 3.00, for the entire thing... teeth and all.We buy a lot of stuff at the market, and i am learning how to bargain whichis pretty funny, but most people think i have a ton of money. Tell the Lee's congrats, i know thats where they wanted to go, so thatspretty cool. I want to serve a mission with my wife when i am that old. Imay not have enough time to email charlotte, but i will try. So, my haircut was so bad that i ended up getting the entire thing shaved.I am completely bald, so i will send you some pictures when i get the cord.I saw a lot of monkeys this week and took some pictures. Its really wierd, some people have them on leashes and walk around with them. Well, loves. Elder Gaxiola

Sorry I haven't put anything up in a while. Here's more from our favorite white African-American.
Dear Family and Friends, Its been pretty crazy the past few days. I am serving in Liberia, in thebush rod area, and the caldwell branch. As it turns out, my companion and iare the first missionaries that this ward has had sense the war, and theonly ones to ever be assigned to the branch. Liberia is the poorest westafrica country, the exchange rate for one of their dollars is 60 to 1, whichis ridiculous. I know you are going to cry when i tell you this, but i gavethe crocs to my mtc companion because they were too small, sorry that i madeyou pay for them, but if you are getting a porsche than i guess a pair ofcrocs wasnt too bad. :). We are in the nicest apartment in the whole of Liberia, mainly becuase wehave power for 24 hours, but it turns off for hours at a time becuase we arehooked up to an ice plant right next to us. We are in the second floor of achurch building and everything in it is brand spankin new. The couplemissionaries here bought us some food for the apartment, they got us captaincrunch, weird milk, bread, jiffy peanut butter, and some smuckers jelly. Its funny because it is like a very poor usa, with a lot of black people. Ihave seen only a handfull of whites here, and a few asians too. Mycompanion is from nigeria, and his name is Elder Echi-Aboli, and he is verystrong. We arm wrestled and he beat me, but just barely. One of the eldersin Liberia is from winnemucca, and one of the guys i went to the mtc with isfrom spanish fork. He doesn't know Kami and Jeremy, but still, small world.I have told a few people that I play drum set, but not too many. On a funnynote, the two american missionaries that came with me to the Sierra Leonemission have jenny's waiting for them back home... if that's not a sign fromGod i dont know what is. I will be able to email you every monday, as that is my pday, and mycompanion emails, so its all good. I wont be able to call on fathers day,it will be on christmas, sorry. So, happy late mothers day, and birthday. It is looking like it is about ready to start the rainy season, but i dontthink it officially starts until next month. I am supposed to stay incaldwell for nine months, but i think that is a really long time to bestaying in one place, but we are not focussing so much on baptisms, butreactivation. There is an average of 68 people at sacrament and way morethan that on the roster. All the little kids look at me and yell "whiteman" from accross the street. And they all try to grab my hands and shakeit. Its funny being a tall white guy... everybody notices me. Time hasbeen passing by fairly fast, and i know that once we get started working itis going to go by much faster. I pray for you guys all the time. Love you all tons, Danny

This was recieved today in response to my (Bekah) e-mail to him. It might not make sense to you, but there is some pretty funny stuff in there that you might understand... I told him about all the earthquakes Reno has had in the past month since he has left. And I asked him if he wanted some good quotes from the new Office episodes he's missing out on. So, the rest of it is pretty self explanatory. I deleted some of it, because you definitly wouldn't understand it. Terry and Mom both got e-mails from him too, which are more addressed to the whole family, so I'll put those up when I get them, but for now, you can all just have this one. I don't even know if anyone's been on here yet...
hey sistah!!!! I would like to say that I am freezing my royal rastafarian neenees off, but i am not. Thats crazy about the earthquakes... its just really hot here. Its only a matter of time until california breaks off, and nevada is beach front property. A box with some cookies of any kind, milky ways, and some reeses would be downright sexy. Dont worry about the cereal though, the milk here blows, its all warm and powdery. Send me some good office quotes. A lot of the americans here watch it, meaning three out of the five of us. Doyou work a lot with Brendon? Tell him hi. Hope all is well, its okay here. I almost punched one of the blacks here. He is lucky i didnt becuase he is smaller than ryan... speaking of ryan... Well, tell everybody hi. Love elder gax
And if you are offended by him saying he almost punched a black guy, I wouldn't be reading any of these because you will get more offended in the future, I'm sure :-) He just says stuff how it is.

Here's the next e-mail. I guess he's allowed to e-mail once a week, but he might be getting a new address soon because he's still using his account from UNR. We will let you know if you are allowed to e-mail him while he's in the MTC, but for now, we aren't sure what's going on. Things are pretty crazy for him right now.
Hey momma, and fam.
I finally got my luggage after about three days of wearing the same pants and all, but its all good. I gave some stuff to the elders here becuase i have too much, and they have too little. Its not too bad in the MTC i guess. We went to the temple yesterday which was awesome, but my companion is really weird, and wont listen to anything i say... But i dont mind, i only have two more weeks. I will not be needing the pajama bottoms, its way too hot here for that, its over 85 degrees at 11:00 p.m. The flight over was okay, i finished the book of mormon and slept a lot. I almost missed my flight to ghana though becuase of a mix up with my luggage and a late flight. There are only 25 of us in the mtc right now, so we are all pretty close, and a lot of the elders are really cool. I do need a watch though, and some good ol' american food. The food here is alright, but i havent had a bowl of cereal since i got here, and I dont think i will have any for the next two years. Powder milk sucks, you were right mom. I played my first game of soccer the other day, and i guess i am not too bad, i could for sure beat ryan, he isnt that good. Well, got to go. Love you all tons. Elder Gaxiola
So, that's it for now. We will put up his address too if you want to write him letters or send him candy bars and cereal. We already have.

Hey y'all. We will be posting Danny's e-mails and other fun junk on here when we get them. If you want us to forward the e-mails directly to you, just send your e-mail address to gilligax@hotmail.com, and we'll add it on the list. Here's Danny's first e-mail home. He left on Thursday and we got this on Monday, so we had the whole weekend to worry about whether or not he made it.
Hey Family,
I made it to the MTC just fine, but my luggage is still in Heathrow. I had to make the journey all by myself, but it wasn't too bad, and i didnt even get sick. I need you to email me a copy of my immunizations becuase my card doesnt say anything about hepatitis, so if you could please do that, but send it tolauratharmon@gmail.com, it would be much appreciated. It is super hot, and super humid here, my hair is all curly, but its all good. Well, i should be able to write to you next week. Love, Elder Gaxiola
